A 13-year-old and a 43-year-old man were wounded by gunfire in the municipality of Quintero, in the Valparaíso Region. The sources do not specify the exact date. G5noticias reported that the attack occurred in the afternoon.

According to BioBioChile, the Public Prosecutor's Office (the prosecution service) ordered the Concón Robbery Investigation Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) to take charge of the case. The outlet added that a clash between rival gangs has not been ruled out.

T13 published another preliminary hypothesis. Based on information from the PDI, the channel reported that the incident may have been related to a robbery. It also said that the Quintero Criminal Investigation Brigade is participating in the investigation.

Local outlet G5noticias gathered witness accounts. According to these accounts, the teenager was directly targeted while walking through the intersection of Lazo and Godoy streets. The attackers allegedly fired from a vehicle. No institution has confirmed this account.

The sources also differ on the condition of those injured. G5noticias reported that the teenager was initially treated at Adriana Cousiño Hospital in Quintero and then transferred to Gustavo Fricke Hospital in Viña del Mar in life-threatening condition. It added that the 43-year-old man's prognosis is guarded.

BioBioChile, however, reported that the teenager was subsequently transferred to Carlos van Buren Hospital in Valparaíso and that, at that point, the injured were not in life-threatening condition.

The PDI told T13 that it is still unclear how the events unfolded. The sources do not report any arrests. Teams from the ECOH prosecution unit and the PDI were carrying out investigative work at Carlos van Buren Hospital. The ECOH prosecution unit is the Public Prosecutor's Office team specializing in organized crime and homicides.
