A 34-year-old man was found dead on a public street in the Pedro de Valdivia area of Temuco (La Araucanía Region). He had multiple gunshot wounds. According to La Tercera, the discovery occurred early Sunday morning.

BioBioChile reported that the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) arrived at the scene to conduct initial inquiries. Its chief, Deputy Prefect Sergio Alarcón, led the work.

Detectives conducted forensic analysis and an external examination of the body. They concluded that all the wounds were caused by the actions of other people. "It was established that this person had multiple injuries caused by gunshots", Alarcón said.

The Prosecutor’s Office told La Tercera that the victim had a police record for handling stolen goods, firearm possession and carrying, and small-scale drug trafficking. Handling stolen goods is the crime of buying, storing or selling stolen property. The sources do not provide the deceased man’s identity.

The Homicide Brigade is working on the investigation alongside the Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH) of the La Araucanía Regional Prosecutor’s Office. ECOH is a unit specializing in homicides and organized crime.

The case is at the preliminary investigation stage. So far, no arrests or formally accused individuals have been reported. The sources also do not provide a case number (RUC, the Unique Case Number assigned by the Prosecutor’s Office).

The teams are seeking to reconstruct how the attack unfolded and locate those responsible for the homicide. Once suspects are identified, the Prosecutor’s Office may request their arrest and then formally notify them before a judge that they are under investigation.
