Chilean midfielder César Pérez scored the goal that sealed Defensa y Justicia's 2-0 win over Unión in Santa Fe, in round 12 of the Argentine Professional League's Clausura tournament. According to Cooperativa, the match was played this Friday, and Juan Gutiérrez scored the other goal.

According to BioBioChile, Pérez started in coach Julio Vaccari's lineup just days after playing for La Roja on its North American tour. The goal came from a one-two with Gutiérrez, as SportsCenter described it on X, calling it another superb goal.

The most relevant detail is his consistency. This is the third consecutive match in which the Magallanes academy graduate has directly contributed to a goal. Before being called up by Nicolás Córdova, he provided an assist for David Barbona against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza.

In the previous round, he set up Leandro Fernández, formerly of Universidad de Chile, to make it 0-2 away against Central Córdoba.

Against Unión, the 23-year-old midfielder played further forward. BioBioChile highlights that he performed attacking duties and constantly sought to score, an aspect of his game that strengthens his case for a place in the national team's midfield.

With the win, Defensa y Justicia moved into second place in Group A with 24 points, two behind leaders Instituto de Córdoba, who have 26 points.
