Nicolás Jarry now has a return date. The organizers of the Guayaquil Challenger in Ecuador confirmed on social media that the Chilean tennis player received a wild card (direct invitation) into the tournament's main draw, which will be played between October 25 and November 1.

According to BioBioChile, it will be Jarry's first tournament since April. His opening opponent has yet to be determined.

His last match was on April 14 at the Oeiras 3 Challenger in Portugal. There, he defeated Denmark's Elmer Moller (181st in the ATP rankings) 6-2, 3-6, 6-0. Before facing Portugal's Jaime Faria in the round of sixteen, he withdrew from the draw because of a fracture in his right elbow.

According to Cooperativa, the injury also kept him out of qualifying for Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Six months of inactivity hurt his ranking. Jarry began the season ranked 133rd and is now 867th in the ATP rankings (Association of Tennis Professionals), a figure both outlets report, although Cooperativa also mentions that he fell to 800th.

The Ecuadorian tournament is a Challenger 75, a category that awards 75 points to the champion. It will be held at Guayaquil Tenis Club, and its top seed is Argentina's Román Burruchaga, ranked 62nd in the world.

The organizers introduced the Chilean by recalling his credentials. In its post on X, the @challengergye account highlighted that he was ranked number 16 in the world, was a finalist at the Rome Masters 1000, won three ATP titles and has victories over Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, currently the world's top 3.

For Chilean tennis, the Santiago native's return gives captain Nicolás Massú another option for the Davis Cup. His first test will begin on October 25 in Guayaquil.
