The underpass on Carlos Dittborn Avenue, near Ñuble Metro station in Ñuñoa, was completely flooded this Tuesday by rain and hail that fell across the Metropolitan Region.
BioBioChile obtained footage showing the underpass covered in water after the rainfall. According to the outlet, Metro had not reported any disruption at the station, which is located above the underpass.
The accumulated water also reached a nearby construction site. Water flowing along the street formed a kind of waterfall that dropped several meters into the site.
ADN Radio shared footage from a user identified as Carlos Fugar, who posted it on X. The images show water falling into the construction pit beside Vicuña Mackenna Avenue. Later, the same user posted a waterfall update on X.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Transport on X, cited by ADN Radio, the Carlos Dittborn underpass remained flooded. The sources do not report how long it was closed or whether any people or vehicles were affected there.
The incident occurred during a weather front that, according to ADN Radio, caught the capital by surprise with rain and hail and caused emergencies in several municipalities.
The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) declared a Red Alert for the entire Metropolitan Region over the weather event, which includes rain, hail and thunderstorms.
