The Investigative Police (PDI) arrested five members of a gang involved in storing and selling drugs in Lampa, in the Metropolitan Region. Among them is its alleged leader, known as "Waton Nacho", who had been a fugitive. The sources do not report his name.

According to Emol, the operation involved the PDI’s Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim) and the Analysis Unit of the North Central Prosecutor’s Office. Radio ADN gave the same account. The PDI reported the operation in recent hours, but the sources do not specify the exact date of the arrests.

The investigation had already led to the seizure of weapons and drugs at a property in the municipality in June. According to the PDI, the gang used converted storage facilities in different parts of Lampa to hide drugs and hinder police work. In a post on X, the PDI located the investigation in the La Poesía neighborhood.

The chief prosecutor of the Analysis Unit reported that officers seized around 27 kilos of cocaine, including cocaine base paste and cocaine hydrochloride, as well as ketamine, ecstasy (MDMA) and marijuana. Both outlets also mention fentanyl. The Prosecutor’s Office added that officers found caffeine and other materials used to conceal the drugs. On X, the PDI valued the drugs at more than 200 million pesos.

Officers also seized four Glock pistols, more than a thousand rounds of ammunition and more than ten magazines. According to the prosecutor, some had been modified for greater firepower. The PDI put the number of magazines at 17 in its post.

The police chief in charge said the detainee rented out the weapons to other groups. "Rented out to different gangs, small gangs that currently operate in the municipality of Lampa," she explained. The outlets differ on her name: Emol identifies her as Prefect Catherine Rosales and ADN as Katherine González, head of the North Central Metropolitan Prefecture. There is a similar discrepancy regarding the prosecutor, whom Emol names as Marcela Vásquez and ADN as Marcela Adasme.

The presidential delegate for the Metropolitan Region, Germán Codina, expressed the support of the government and the Ministry of the Interior for the coordinated work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the PDI.

For now, the five are under arrest and have not yet been formally charged. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, they were placed at the disposal of the Colina Guarantee Court for their formal charging hearing. At that hearing, prosecutors inform them of the offenses they are accused of and may request precautionary measures, such as pretrial detention. The sources do not detail the charges against the four companions, describing them only as "various offenses", or report the RUC (Unique Case Number).
