A year after the deaths of Eduardo Cruz-Coke and his sons Eduardo and Federico, their family remembered them with a Mass at Verbo Divino school. Senator Luciano Cruz-Coke, the photographer's cousin, shared the tribute on his Instagram account, Cooperativa reported.
The senator posted a photograph with his relative. "Yesterday we remembered Eduardo Cruz-Coke and his sons Eduardo and Federico at Mass at Verbo Divino, a year after their tragic deaths," he wrote.
According to the senator, friends, classmates, relatives and others close to the victims attended the ceremony. He ended his message with a farewell: "May God keep them in His Kingdom".
Eduardo Cruz-Coke worked as a photographer, cameraman and audiovisual producer. For years he collaborated with Teletón, where one of his sons was a patient. In November 2025, the charity campaign paid tribute to him during its broadcast.
The three were found dead in their home in La Reina in October 2025. The brothers were fraternal twins and were 17 years old, according to BioBioChile.
The outlet reported that investigators initially considered the possibility that the father had attacked the teenagers before taking his own life. That line of inquiry was ruled out within days.
The case currently has a single defendant: Jorge Ugalde Parraguez, the photographer's brother-in-law and the teenagers' uncle. He was arrested in November 2025 and has remained in pretrial detention since then.
The Prosecutor's Office is investigating a possible financial motive linked to disputes over assets and a family inheritance. Evidence collected includes traces of DNA, a mask bearing the victim's blood and records that, according to prosecutors, contradict parts of Ugalde's account.
In September, the defense sought his release from jail. It submitted videos to argue that the defendant's dog could retrieve the mask from a piece of furniture, which would explain the presence of blood. The judge rejected that argument, and the prosecutor said it lacked logic.
A recording of Ugalde's statement upon finding Eduardo Cruz-Coke's body was also recently released. In it, he said his urgent priority was to take his pet outside to prevent it from getting stained. The investigation remains open, and Ugalde remains in pretrial detention.
