San Luis de Quillota announced on Friday that its board will not vote for Jorge Yunge's slate in the National Professional Football Association (ANFP) election, scheduled for November 19. It is the first club to state its position publicly.

According to BioBioChile, the statement came after some reports interpreted Iván Cisternas's inclusion on Yunge's slate as a director as support from the club. Cisternas is a football official linked to the Quillota club. BioBioChile spells his surname Cisterna, while the club's statement identifies him as Cisternas.

The club from the Valparaíso Region responded with a statement. "Mr. Iván Cisternas does not hold the position of representative of the club's board, as he ceased performing these duties following the change of administration on October 9, 2024," it said. It also clarified, according to Cooperativa, that Cisternas retains only a 0.16% stake in the club's sports corporation.

The club's conclusion was unequivocal: "The club's board will not support the aforementioned slate in the ANFP elections". Cooperativa says this suggests that San Luis will back Jorge Uauy, whose slate represents the option for change. The club has not confirmed this.

Uauy and Yunge are the two candidates seeking to succeed Pablo Milad as president of the ANFP, based in Quilín. The 16 clubs in the First Division and the 16 in the Second Division will vote. First Division teams' votes count double, while Second Division teams' votes count as a single vote each.

San Luis competes in the Second Division, so its decision costs Yunge a single vote. Just over five weeks remain until the November 19 vote, when the new board of Chilean football will be elected.
