The Carabineros band performed "Dynamite," one of South Korean band BTS's hits, in Constitution Square, outside La Moneda Palace, according to ADN Radio. The performance took place on Friday, October 16, after the traditional changing of the guard.

The uniformed police force's musical ensemble added the song to its repertoire during the K-pop (Korean pop) group's visit to Chile. The gesture surprised the band's fans who were at the site.

There was a specific reason for the choice. According to Captain Daniel Medina, quoted by ADN Radio from a television interview, the initiative sought to recognize and thank the audience for its good behavior during BTS's first concert in the country, which drew more than 70 thousand people.

The band's fans are known as ARMY, the name its followers use worldwide. "Dynamite" is part of the group's album BE.

The tribute joins other welcoming gestures. According to the same outlet, restaurants and hotels have also joined in the atmosphere surrounding the group's three concerts in Chile.

The shows are being held at the National Stadium, with a 360-degree stage and an extensive technical setup. During the performances, the audience joins in with singing and ARMY Bombs, the band's official light sticks.

ADN Radio did not specify whether the band would repeat the performance in the coming days, as BTS continues its concert series in Santiago.
