San Luis de Quillota drew 1-1 with Deportes Recoleta at Lucio Fariña stadium in the penultimate round of the 2026 Promotion League. Their coach, Humberto Suazo, called the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the tournament "a disgrace".

According to Cooperativa, the former Chile international striker's frustration concerns a decision by the ANFP (National Professional Football Association). The organization suspended all award ceremonies because of pending disciplinary proceedings against San Marcos de Arica and Deportes Puerto Montt. Those rulings could change the standings and benefit Cobreloa.

The draw hurt in Quillota. According to La Tercera, San Luis conceded the equalizer in stoppage time, while Cobreloa won away at Rangers de Talca with a last-gasp goal. Both teams therefore head into matchday 30 level at the top with 54 points, with direct promotion to the First Division at stake.

"I think everyone already knows that, for us, what is happening is a disgrace, but that's how it is," Suazo told TNT Sports. He then added that his team is focused on fighting for the championship "until the very end".

The coach, known as Chupete, preferred to highlight his squad. "Nobody gave us a chance, and we're fighting for the title," he said. He also stressed that almost all his players live in Quillota and that the group operates like a family, "from the cook to the kit manager".

For Suazo, the season carries personal significance. This is his first experience as a coach and, as he recalled, he retired as a player exactly a year ago, on the same date and at the same stadium.

The sources do not detail the substance of the complaints or when the ANFP will rule. What is clear is the final challenge on the pitch: San Luis will visit San Marcos in Arica, the same opponent threatening them with an off-field points deduction.
