The National Seismological Center (CSN) at the University of Chile recorded five earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.0 and 3.3 early this Saturday, October 10. All were located in northern Chile and occurred between 00:20 and 06:03.

La Tercera reported this based on the agency's reports. Chilevisión also reported the earthquakes at 01:49 and 03:26, with the same magnitude, epicenter and depth data.

The first earthquake occurred at 00:20. It had a magnitude of 3.0, with an epicenter 72 kilometers southeast of Socaire, in the Antofagasta Region, and a depth of 219 kilometers.

At 00:52, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake was recorded 88 kilometers east of Alto del Carmen, in the Atacama Region, at a depth of 113 kilometers.

The day's two strongest earthquakes reached magnitude 3.3. The first occurred at 01:49, 14 kilometers southeast of Camiña, in the Tarapacá Region, at a depth of 99 kilometers. The second was recorded at 03:26, 62 kilometers southeast of Socaire and at a depth of 207 kilometers.

The morning's last report came at 06:03. It was a magnitude 3.0 earthquake, located 60 kilometers northeast of Calama and at a depth of 117 kilometers.

None of the sources reported damage or people affected. Most of these earthquakes are not felt, according to La Tercera. Chile lies on the boundary between the Nazca and South American plates, whose friction generates constant seismic activity.

The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) issued a reminder of what to do during a significant earthquake. The agency recommends staying calm, finding a place to take cover and sheltering under or beside a sturdy object.

Senapred also advises turning off the electricity and shutting off the water and gas valves. On the street, people should move away from buildings, poles and electrical wires. At large gatherings, the guidance is to stay where you are, protect your head and neck with your arms and follow security personnel's instructions.

Anyone driving through a tunnel, across a bridge or along a highway should slow down and stop after leaving that structure. Chilevisión said it would update its report throughout the day with any new earthquakes reported by the CSN.
