Colo Colo begin their 2026 Women's Copa Libertadores campaign this Thursday against Brazil's Corinthians, the tournament's defending champions. The match will kick off at 17:00 Chile time at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, at altitude in Quito, Ecuador. The following day, Universidad de Chile open against Uruguay's Nacional.
According to La Tercera, the tournament brings together the continent's 16 best teams in Ecuador. Cooperativa reported that Colo Colo's opener will air on Chilevisión and Pluto TV, with free streaming on Chilevision.cl and the MiCHV app.
Colo Colo are in Group A with Corinthians, Colombia's Santa Fe and Venezuela's Caracas. They will face the Colombian side on Sunday, October 18, and conclude the group stage against the Venezuelan side on Wednesday, October 21.
Brazilian coach Tatiele Silveira's team enter as leaders of the regular season in the Chilean Women's Championship and have already qualified for the domestic tournament's semifinals. "Facing the defending champions will always be special, difficult, but it is part of the Copa Libertadores," the coach said. She added that Corinthians "are a familiar opponent" and that this will be the team's first encounter with a Venezuelan opponent.
Colo Colo's goal is to improve on their fourth-place finish in 2025. That year, they beat Olimpia, Sao Paulo, San Lorenzo and Libertad before losing on penalties to Deportivo Cali in the semifinals. Yanara Aedo, Yessenia "Paloma" López, Mary Valencia and Ryann Torrero are among the squad's leading players. Argentina's Estefanía Banini joined this season.
Universidad de Chile play in Group D with Nacional, Deportivo Cali and Paraguay's Libertad. After their opener, they will face the Colombian side on Monday, October 19, and the Paraguayan side on Thursday, October 22. In 2025, they did not advance beyond the group stage.
Universidad de Chile are also in the semifinals of the Chilean championship. In the quarterfinals, they eliminated Huachipato 11-2 on aggregate, winning 6-1 in Santiago and 5-1 in the south.
"The first thing is to get through the group stage. We have a good team and have prepared for that," said Universidad de Chile coach Nicolás Bravo. The sources do not specify the kickoff time or broadcast details for Universidad de Chile's match. Both teams' first objective is to advance from their groups before October 22.
