Sebastián Beccacece, former coach of Ecuador's national team, said he hopes to see Manuel Pellegrini in charge of Chile's national team, according to La Tercera. The Argentine coach spoke in Santiago, where he had arrived for Matías Rodríguez's farewell.

He was asked whether he could take over Chile, currently led by interim coach Nicolás Córdova. Beccacece responded with another name: "Hopefully Manuel (Pellegrini) can come". He also described the Chilean's work at Spain's Betis as extraordinary.

"Hopefully, once his contract ends, their paths can come together," he added, according to the outlet. He was referring to combining the Engineer's experience with a new generation of Chilean footballers, whom he considers promising.

His remarks come amid debate over Chile's coaching position. Pellegrini remains under contract at the Seville club and, for now, Córdova continues as interim coach.

The Argentine also proposed bringing former internationals into other roles. He mentioned Arturo, Marcelo Díaz, Jean Beausejour and Claudio. "I dream of that," he said, calling for all of Chile to unite behind the new national team.

Beccacece also assessed his time with Ecuador, whom he coached at the 2026 World Cup. He spoke of very good results in qualifying and argued that they deserved "another game or two" at the World Cup.

Regarding his future, the coach said he has yet to decide on his next challenge. He said he is enjoying time with his family, feeling calm and waiting to see what life brings. "We'll see what it is," he concluded.
