President José Antonio Kast led the institutional launch of Choose Chile this Thursday at La Moneda Palace, according to La Tercera. It is a shared international positioning platform for ministries, public agencies and institutions.

The aim is to present Chile as an exporting country and a destination for investment, innovation and project development. According to the outlet, the initiative seeks to attract investment, business, technology, human capital and tourism.

It also aims to promote a more diversified, innovative and higher-value export offering. The government wants to establish Choose Chile as a state agenda that extends beyond a single administration.

The first concrete milestone is a summit planned for March 2027. According to La Tercera, it will combine business meetings in Santiago, visits to regional projects and companies, and a program for international media. The source does not detail a budget, investment targets or which public agencies will coordinate the platform.

In his speech, Kast linked attracting capital to fiscal adjustment. "We are putting our house in order, and we are saying so publicly," he said. He acknowledged a difficult fiscal situation and said everyone had had to tighten their belts because no one would invest in a country in disarray.

The president also lashed out at populism. He argued that countries where it holds sway do not move forward and accused some actors of looking after their own personal or political interests over a few years, rather than Chile's interests.

Kast focused on the calendar. He noted that 2027 will be a year without elections and described it as an opportunity to move forward with responsible public spending. He assigned that task to the government, Parliament and regional governments.

Who gains and who loses? The message puts pressure on lawmakers and regional governors who call for more spending, whom the president portrays as part of the problem. For ordinary citizens, the promise is indirect: according to Kast, more investment will mean more jobs and a better quality of life.

The president closed with an explicit appeal: "It is up to all of us to build greater confidence so that these investments become a reality." The next test will be the March 2027 summit, when the platform will have to show results to investors and the foreign press.
