Alexis Morales, known as Alexítico and founder of the cumbia band La Noche, filed a criminal complaint for serious insults made publicly against Leo Rey, his former bandmate. The complaint was filed with the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago.

BioBioChile reported on the complaint based on information published by T13, which had access to the document. ADN Radio said the complaint became public this Friday. The sources do not report the RIT (Internal Court Reference Number) or the RUC (Unique Case Reference Number).

In the filing, Alexítico seeks a sentence of 540 days of imprisonment in the minimum range for a lesser prison sentence and a fine of 20 Monthly Tax Units (UTM). According to ADN Radio, that amount is equivalent to about $1.5 million.

A criminal complaint is the action through which a person who considers themselves a victim initiates criminal proceedings. Insults are a privately prosecuted offense: the affected person pursues the case, without the Public Prosecutor's Office acting as prosecutor. The case is at an early stage, and Leo Rey has not been convicted.

The complaint concerns remarks the singer made on the streaming show La Junta, in an episode published on September 17. According to ADN Radio, Leo Rey was taking part in an activity to rank personalities when a photograph of Alexítico appeared on screen.

Host Julio César Rodríguez asked him whether there was any possibility of reconciliation. Leo Rey replied: "He has to suck it really well first." According to BioBioChile, the episode has more than 1.6 million views on YouTube.

Alexítico's legal team describes the phrase as a "totally humiliating expression that seeks to tarnish the musician's honor and dignity". ADN Radio adds that the filing describes it as an insult of a sexual nature.

According to T13, as cited by BioBioChile, the complaint mentions Rodríguez's role, but the complainant decided not to bring the action against him because the host did not make insulting remarks.

The document also argues that the episode adds to the singer's "hostile, belligerent, offensive, vulgar and mocking" attitude dating back "at least ten years." The dispute between the two members of La Noche is longstanding.

According to ADN Radio, Alexítico states in the filing that after the remarks, he received mockery and death threats against himself and his family through private messages, which he has already formally reported. No public response from Leo Rey is known so far. The next step is for the court to rule on the admissibility of the complaint.
