Gabriel Zaliasnik, Chile's ambassador to Israel, declared financial investments abroad totaling more than US$ 2 million, according to La Tercera. The outlet reviewed his asset declaration, a document of around twenty pages that the lawyer submitted when he took up his post in Tel Aviv.

Zaliasnik is a criminal lawyer, a council member of the Bar Association and an associate professor of criminal law at the University of Chile. These are the activities he reported for the past 12 months. According to his declaration, he officially took office on July 17 of this year.

Most of his money is outside Chile, mainly in mutual fund units spread across the United States, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Ireland and Portugal. His largest investment is a BPI equity mutual fund in Portugal, valued at 797 thousand euros.

In Luxembourg, he lists almost half a million dollars in four funds managed by BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Meridian Funds and Robeco Capital. He invested in three of them in 2014 and the fourth in 2017. In Switzerland, he holds a fiduciary demand deposit (call fiduciary deposit) of US$ 400 thousand at Julius Baer bank.

Rounding out his international portfolio are US$ 209 thousand in bonds in the United States and more than US$ 300 thousand in mutual funds and ETFs in Ireland. ETFs are funds traded on stock exchanges like shares.

In Chile, he declares 100% ownership of his house in Vitacura, purchased in 2012 and assessed at $ 1,103 million for tax purposes. He also lists 50% ownership of an apartment in Providencia valued at $ 112 million and a 2023 BMW worth $ 50 million. In Argentina's Santa Fe province, he owns half of a property in Curupayti valued at $ 818 million and half of another in Las Palmeras. Both are held under a co-ownership arrangement.

He holds his local investments through companies. Asesorías y Rentas Chinquihue Limitada has a book value of $ 48 million and includes 1,541 shares in Latam Airlines. He made his most recent purchase through that company. On July 9, shortly before submitting the declaration, he acquired 84,976 shares in Colo Colo valued at $ 13 million.

Inversiones GZ Limitada, through which he holds a stake in the Albagli Zaliasnik law firm, is valued at $ 567 million. Its main asset is units in the Capital Financiero mutual fund worth $ 590 million. It also holds shares in BCI ($ 33 million), Cencosud ($ 17 million), Enel Chile ($ 16 million), ECL ($ 13 million), Parque Arauco ($ 10 million) and Salfacorp ($ 9 million). He also declares 4 shares in Marbella Country Club and 170 in Estadio Israelita, purchased in 1995.

The declaration has omissions. It does not list four properties in Miami that, according to the outlet Reportea, Zaliasnik and his wife purchased between 2018 and 2025 through two US companies, Hirwa Usa Corp and Chinquihue USA LLC. The ambassador stated that he is married under a separate-property regime and did not include the assets of his spouse, Elizabeth Majlis.

Reportea added that Zaliasnik was a director of those companies in the United States until June 1. However, the lawyer did not include those positions among his activities in the 12 months before his appointment. The source does not mention whether the ambassador or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded about that omission.
