Chile thrashed Brazil 80-7 at the Rugby High Performance Centre (CARR) in La Reina, won Group A and reached the final of the World Rugby U20 Challenger Santiago 2026. The tournament, organised by World Rugby, the sport’s international federation, brings together under-20 national teams.

According to La Tercera, Los Cóndores U20 played before a crowd that stayed despite the cold and rain. The match decided who would reach the final: the winner would advance to the tournament’s title decider.

Chile dominated from the start. The forward pack made the difference, and the team went 41-0 up with five tries in the first half. Brazil only got on the scoreboard at the end of that half, with their sole genuinely threatening move.

Sebastián Benavente, who handled the conversions, scored a try just after the second half began. From there, Chile continued adding points against opponents who could only try to limit the size of the defeat.

Gianfranco Di Giorgis was the standout performer with three tries, and Rafael Silva contributed two, according to ADN Radio. Max Schlesinger, Lucca Baglieto, José Tomás Bonilla, Cristóbal Escobar, Benavente, Nicolás Weitzel and Santiago Wood completed the list of try scorers.

The campaign confirms the team’s attacking strength. Before facing Brazil, Chile had beaten Hong Kong China 83-19 and Romania 50-9: they have scored 213 points and conceded 35 in three matches.

Their opponents in the final will be Belgium, also unbeaten after defeating Portugal, Canada and Namibia, the last of those on Monday.

The final will be played on Saturday, October 17 at 19:00 at the CARR in La Reina.
