Argentine priest Javier Olivera Ravasi will be among the speakers at Expofamily 2026, a conservative congress to be held this Saturday, October 17, at Centro Parque, inside Parque Araucano in Las Condes. The priest is known for sharing testimonies from people who say they have left homosexuality behind to draw closer to the Christian faith.
BioBioChile reported this based on information published by The Clinic. According to that outlet, Olivera Ravasi will speak between 12:00 and 13:00, delivering a talk titled "The Christian Education of Children."
Chema Librería is organizing the event, which will run from 11:00 to 19:00. Its promoters advocate a family model consisting of a father, a mother and children. The program includes talks on sex education, gender dysphoria and the so-called "culture war."
Several figures on the Chilean right have publicized the event. They include Republican Deputy José Antonio Kast Adriasola, National Libertarian Party President Johannes Kaiser, and former Government Spokesperson Minister Mara Sedini.
In addition to Olivera Ravasi, the lineup includes Argentine writer Agustín Laje, American Tim Ballard, psychologist Margarita Rojo, psychiatrist María José Mancino and businesswoman Sandra Bronzina.
Who is the guest speaker? Olivera Ravasi trained as a lawyer and holds a doctorate in Philosophy and History. He also publishes books and runs Que no te la cuenten, a channel where he shares content about Catholic tradition.
The most controversial aspect of his public profile concerns homosexuality. In June 2024, he uploaded a video to his platform titled "Can You Leave Homosexuality Behind? Testimonies of the 'Transformed.'" In it, he interviewed two people who described leaving those practices behind to follow the path of Christ.
The priest has also shared social media messages from mothers describing how they tried to correct behaviors in their children that they associated with a homosexual tendency. In a January 24, 2025 post on X, the account @PJavierOR shared a woman's account describing her son as "almost homosexual" and recounting her efforts to reinforce his masculinity.
His record includes another controversy, this time political. In July 2024, he was identified as one of the organizers of a visit by deputies from La Libertad Avanza, Argentine President Javier Milei's party, to former military personnel convicted of crimes against humanity at Ezeiza prison.
That meeting took place amid efforts to secure prison concessions for elderly convicts, such as serving their sentences under house arrest. The Argentine Catholic Church distanced itself from the priest, and the Diocese of Zárate-Campana subsequently removed him from his pastoral duties, according to The Clinic.
The sources consulted contain no responses from Chilean sexual diversity organizations or the organizers to the criticism of the speaker. Expofamily 2026 will open its doors this Saturday at 11:00 in Las Condes.
