Cobresal and Universidad de Concepción drew 1-1 this Saturday, October 10, in El Salvador, in the opening match of round 24 of the Liga de Primera. Both goals came in the final minutes of a direct clash between teams fighting to avoid relegation to Primera B.
Cooperativa listed the encounter as the opening fixture of a round played between Saturday and Monday, October 12, with key matches in the battles to avoid relegation and qualify for international cups.
For much of the match, neither side managed to break the deadlock. According to ADN Radio's commentary, Universidad de Concepción struck first in the 88th minute through Luis Rojas, whose goal appeared to secure a vital away win.
The home side responded at the last moment. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Guillermo Pacheco scored at 90+5 to earn Cobresal a draw. TNT Sports Chile highlighted the "intense draw in the north" on X when posting the match's goals.
The point leaves both sides in the danger zone. Cobresal are third from bottom with 25 points, while Universidad de Concepción are second from bottom with 23 points and, as things stand, would be relegated.
In round 25, Cobresal will visit O'Higgins in Rancagua. Universidad de Concepción will host Deportes Limache at Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium.
