Aníbal Mosa, president of Blanco y Negro, the concession company that runs Colo Colo, has proposed to the clubs and to the two candidates for the presidency of the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP, Chile's professional football league) that they form a consensus slate, according to ADN Radio. He made the proposal on the station's program Tuya mía.

The proposal comes at a delicate moment. FIFA, the body that governs world football, visited Chile to review the statutes for the separation between the ANFP and the Federación de Fútbol de Chile (Chile's football federation). That process changes the structure under which the country's football is organized.

At the same time, the race to lead the ANFP is under way. The elections are set for November 19, and two candidates are running: Jorge Uauy and Jorge Yunge.

Mosa described the moment as a historic turning point. "This revolution that Chilean football is going to have is the most important in its history in 93 years", he said. He explained that the cause is a law built on the separation of the two institutions, something that, according to him, had never happened before.

He listed the pending tasks. He mentioned accounting, financial and operational issues, as well as VAR (the video refereeing system), referees and the disciplinary tribunals. "And on top of that, we have an election in the middle of it all", he added.

Given that scenario, the Colo Colo leader called for setting aside the differences between the two candidacies. By his account, he first raised it privately and then before the board members. "That they try to find a consensus slate where all of Chilean football is behind that slate", he said.

Mosa denied that his initiative is meant to secure him a post in the future administration. "I'm not after any position", he said. He said his only goal is to help the transition go as well as possible.

The source does not include any reaction from Uauy or Yunge to the idea. Nor does it detail how that slate would be formed or who would lead it.

As for the response, Mosa said that at least six clubs found the proposal interesting at the Consejo de Presidentes (the council of club presidents). He also said a significant number of clubs have not yet decided how to vote. With that undecided bloc in play, the outcome will rest with the Consejo ahead of the November 19 vote.
