Police arrested two Chilean men, aged 47 and 25, following the theft of a truck carrying a shipment of meat valued at $200 million. The truck driver was intercepted in Los Andes, in the Valparaíso Region. Both men were captured after a pursuit that ended in the Metropolitan Region.

According to T13, the Paraguayan driver was forced into a van and later abandoned in the municipality of Lo Espejo. Radio ADN also reported that the truck was coming from Paraguay and that the assailants intercepted the driver by boxing him in with vehicles. That outlet placed his release in "El Espejo," although the municipality in the Metropolitan Region is called Lo Espejo.

The sources do not specify what time the robbery occurred. At around 22:00 this Wednesday, the company owner reported the theft to police. Using the truck's GPS satellite positioning system, he had detected that the vehicle had deviated from its route.

Following that alert, police officers patrolled the area and located the group. A pursuit lasting about 15 minutes then began, ending near Quilapilán Bridge, in the municipality of Colina, according to both outlets.

At the scene, officers established that the cargo had been transferred to a second truck. They recovered all the meat and both vehicles.

"The pursuit lasted about 15 minutes," said Lieutenant Jaime Fernández of the Santiago North Police Prefecture. The officer added that the detainees have police records and were subject to a precautionary measure of nighttime house arrest. This measure, ordered by a court in another case, required them to remain at home overnight.

For now, the case is at the arrest stage. The sources do not report whether the detainees have already appeared before a judge for a review of their detention or whether the Prosecutor's Office will formally bring charges against them. They also provide no case number and do not identify which prosecutor's office is responsible for the investigation.

Radio ADN reported that investigative work continues to establish whether other people were involved and to reconstruct the route the perpetrators followed after the robbery.
